◆ What is a Dependent Visa?

A Dependent Visa allows the spouse and children of foreign residents holding visas such as the Business Manager Visa or Student Visa to live together in Japan.
In principle, work is not permitted. However, with a Permission to Engage in Activity Other Than That Permitted, dependents can work part-time up to 28 hours per week.
If the spouse wishes to work full-time, a change to a work-eligible visa status is required.
